The group has announced that Manon Bannerman, a member of Katseye, will take a short break to focus on her health and well-being. "Sometimes things unfold in ways we don't fully control, but I'm trusting the bigger picture," the 23-year-old Swiss singer added, adding that she was "healthy" and "taking care of myself." The girl group, which was formed in 2023 and has six members, stated that the decision had been made after "open and thoughtful conversations together." The announcement comes weeks after Katseye performed at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, where they were nominated for best new artist and best pop duo/group performance for their song, Gabriela.

Bannerman posted a message on Friday to Katseye's WeVerse fan page, "Thank you for standing by me." "I can't wait to see you again and I love you incessantly." The group stated, "We fully support this decision," in a statement posted on WeVerse by their label, HYBE, and Geffen Records. Katseye continues to be dedicated to showing up for one another and the fans, who mean the world to us. Katseye stated that they "look forward to being together again when the time is right" and that they would carry on with their scheduled performances in Bannerman's absence. Her return has not been scheduled.

During the 2023 reality competition series The Debut: Dream Academy, the group, which also includes Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeung, was formed. They released Debut, their first single, in June 2024. Since then, they have released a number of singles and two EPs, SIS (Soft is Strong) and Beautiful Chaos. The pressures of their rapid global rise to fame and the online scrutiny that has accompanied it have been discussed by the group previously. Since the band was formed, the girl group said they had received thousands of death threats. Lara Raj stated to the BBC, "I try to tell myself it doesn't matter, but if 1,000 people are sending you death threats, it's jarring." Raj referred to the band as "women to rank" and described it as "so dystopian." It was "very terrorizing on the mind," according to Bannerman.
